Uplift and Update – The Rozeks, UK

11 10 2008

Greetings to all of our faithful love ones!

UPLIFT…

“One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts. Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, And I will declare Your greatness.” (Psalm 145:4,6) Are you an active participant in the praising of the Lord for all His wonderful works?  May we ever be committed to declaring all the great things the Lord has done and is doing in our lives in the midst of a time where so many people are cynical and depressed about the state of affairs in the economy and the world.  We have a higher calling and a greater security than millions of people in the world. So no matter what happens around you or who wins the upcoming election, remember this truth as a banner over your life…”Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.” (Psalm 20:7) Our American money may be struggling but it is still faithfully declaring…”In God We Trust!” Amen! Update from Gary and Marlene Cameron – Intervaristy

11 10 2008

Hello friends!

Fall semester is an exciting time. All of the fellowships where we serve (FIU, UM and the UM Miller School of Medicine) have had  their Orientations and New Student Outreach events.  Their weekly meetings have begun and it looks like a promising year. We have met some very fine students. Some come with great excitement, some come from difficult contexts and need to experience God’s love and hospitality. In our prayer list below we ask you to pray for them and the faculty in these schools.

Please pray for:
– A strong Christian presence at Florida International, University of Miami, and UM’s Miller School of Medicine.
– Our law and medical students to receive God’s love and have the ability to nourish their spiritual lives during intense school schedules.
– The international students who are attending our Bible studies as they adjust to a new culture and surroundings and beliefs.
– For the faculty at these campuses, as well as staff and administration (in particular the faculty and staff prayer gathering  at FIU).
– Our funding levels need to increase.
– Our family (including extended family) needs.
– For two conferences we are working toward bringing students to: Christian Legal Society October 9-12 in Washington, DC, and The IVCF Graduate and Faculty Ministry Following Christ ‘08 in Chicago December 27th-31st (See link below for more details).

We have been asked to give supervision to undergraduate staff in Miami (UM and FIU) for this year. We are transitioning into that responsibility right now. Pray for their current New Student Outreach at both UM and FIU. Ask that God would bless our involvement with these undergraduate ministries.

A great highlight we experienced recently was a record turnout (approximately 225) of international students at the University of Miami to our collaborative welcoming dinner last Friday evening. There were guests from scores of countries across the globe. We appreciate your prayers and for all of you who support us to make it happen, especially our friends who donated the food for this event!

Thank you for joining us again this year as our prayer partners. Let us know if you would like to add anyone to this prayer update. We commit to keeping you informed. Our fall prayer letter will be coming shortly.

Thanks for being there!

Gary and Marlene

Prayer Request from Cluadia Arango – Uganda

11 10 2008

Hi friends and family,

I would like to add another request for prayer for our new addition to the orphanage.  A baby girl whom we named Mary.  She came when she was only 2 weeks and very underweight (4 pounds).  Her mother died and no one knows the father.  Usually in the States a baby like that remains in the hospital until is they are stable.  Here there are no facilities like that so we are completely relaying on the Lord to care of this little one.   Please pray that she will thrive and grow and for protection from getting sick, especially from malaria.  She is very fragile and vulnerable right now.  I am helping to care for this little one among all the other responsibilities I have here at the orphanage so it is overwhelming sometimes but God’s grace is sufficient.  Please pray for personal strength and  for me to remain close to the Source of all things, our Lord.  Also for wisdom concerning my daughters schooling,  I am praying for the Lord to raise someone to not only come and work at our school here at the orphanage but help me to homeschool my daughters.

Blessings,

Claudia Arango

Prayer Requests – Far Reaching Ministries

11 10 2008

“The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe” – Proverbs 29:25

Sudan:

There are tribal tensions brewing in Nimule. We are evacuating all non-essential personnel on Thursday. Please pray peace will quickly be restored. Please pray every staff member will be  safe. Pray the senior staff can manage all the extra teaching that will fall to them.
Pray for the elections January 9th to be peaceful. Pray the Nubians will be granted freedom from the North.
Pray Omar Bashir is taken to The Hague and tried for his crimes against humanity. Pray he will be saved and radically born again.
Pray for our trip to Dajo 6-13 November. We have one chaplain, Absalom who is ready to serve there full time, pray God will direct us for another well trained man to join him. Pray for unity between CMA and FRM. Ask God to knit our hearts together for His glory.
Pray for the ministry in Kauda. Pray the men left behind will be diligent and work with their own hands tirelessly. We know apart from God this project will not stand. We need His strength and provision.
Pray God will enable Vicky to remain in Kauda for several months to fully train the new staff. Her schedule is very full until April 2009.
Pray for Mikelina’s husband to be healed.
Pray for the students in class seven to mature in the Word.
Ask God to send us pastors with patience who will get down to the level of the students so none of the students get discouraged. Read the rest of this entry »

Update from Potter’s Field Ministries

11 10 2008

El Salvador :  No slowing down…

This past month Pastor Michael, along with a few staff members, pastors from around the nation, and ministry-minded friends were able to visit the orphanage. This team of twenty-five caught the vision of God’s plan for the Potter’s Field Ranch Orphanage and other works He has “ordained from the foundations”.

In prior newsletters we mentioned that Potter’s Field has been praying about furthering the ministry in La Angustora (just north of the capital).  During this past trip, God orchestrated events that brought about the purchase of land.  Over the next year, Potter’s Field and Calvary Chapel San Salvador plan to establish a church in the area and provide the structure needed for a brand new Potter’s Field Kids after school program.  Praise God for this progress!

Koinonia Peru Update

4 10 2008

Hi Everyone,

I hope that you’re all doing well. This has been a busy week and here’s a summary of what’s been happening. Thanks again for your prayers and for being such a blessing for us in so many ways.

Maintenance

About a month ago, we had a lot of rain which in Lima is not at all common. As a result, we have a lot of paint that’s pealing. I spent a little more than 7 hours this week prepping walls for painting. Yes, doing jobs like that is part of missionary service too. By the way, if you’ve got some vacation time coming and would like to come down to paint or help with other maintenance projects here in the building, please contact me. We’ve got plenty of work to do!

Moving Forward

For several years now, I’ve been praying for a way to help Peruvian’s that want to minister with Koinonia and need financial help. With a few exceptions, I haven’t wanted to ask people in others countries to support the Peruvian workers. The reason is that I believe it’s better in the long run for the Peruvian church to be as independent as possible in regards to finances. This week, we took steps toward that reality. I’m so excited. Here’s why…

Oninxha, Angie and I went to sign legal documents to form a business. We’re planning to sell various products to help raise support for our Peruvian missionaries. The company is named “Hasta Los Confines”. In English, that phrase means “to the uttermost”. It’s taken from Jesus’ command to preach the gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth. In addition, we’re also hoping to export our products around the world.

Initially, we’ll be selling t-shirts with a message. Our clothing name brand here in Peru will be called “Outtasight-2 Cor. 4:18”. That verse says, “we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” I’ll be showing the first three designs to people in the States when I travel there next week. In the future, we hope to sell men and women’s apparel, purses and other items. We’ll keep you up-to-date.

For God so loved the world

This week, God gave me several opportunities to share the gospel. One being yesterday, while I was traveling on the bus to Ica. A woman sat next to me and it was great to see how God has already been working in her heart. Another was with two university students, a guy and a girl, who came to church. At least the girl is really seeking. She’s really hurting too. Her name is Tania.

Your Opportunity to Minister in Peru through Prayer

Koinonia Surco will be working with a medical mission’s team from the States on Thursday and Friday. They will be doing a medical clinic in Santa Rosa . We are expecting several hundred people to be treated and ministered to in those two days. Pray for the Holy Spirit to minister and for good organization for the whole event.
I will be traveling to the States with the entire family on Monday evening. I’ll be sharing in several churches, meeting with individuals and attending a conference.
I would appreciate your prayers for wisdom, creativity and divine contacts for Outtasight-2 Cor. 4:18 and the whole team that is working with “Hasta Los Confines”.
Pray for salvation for Tania, Miguel Angel and Miguel Angel. (No, that’s not a mistake. There are actually two young men named Miguel Angel that we’ve been witnessing to.

God bless you all.
