Thank you for your continued prayers for the ministry in the slums of Nairobi. We are requesting prayer support in regard to an unprecendented level of illnesses in the Bible School Ministry. We have had at least 5 pastors or their spouses taken to the hospital in the past 2 weeks, including two in the past 24 hours. One undergoing emergency surgery. Many more have fallen ill with various other debilitating illnesses (typhoid, malaria and parasites being the most common). In addition, the Field Missionaries (Cowley’s and Chesebro’s) have had their share of illnesses, injuries and such as well. It has truly been a fierce battle for the past month. And it seems to be continuing. A pastor and a pastor’s spouse were both involved in a road accident today, while on a ministry mission. By God’s grace, they were both spared any serious injury.
We ask that you join us in prayer for deliverance, protection and God’s sovereign purpose in all of this.
On another note, please remember that the Cowley’s (Jan-March) and Chesebro’s (Dec-Jan) both will be back in the States for a short visit. If you would like them to share with your church, home fellowship or group of friends, please contact them now….so that they can prepare for effective ministry during the short time they will have. You can reach them at:
Paul & Marcia Cowley: paul@disciplesupport.org
Roger & Kathy Chesebro: rogerandkathy2000@yahoo.com
Thank you again for your fervent prayers, encouragement and support towards the pastors and our missionaries.
Disciple Support Ministries
Nairobi, Kenya
Dear Paul & Marcia,
It has been about ten years now and through a mutual friend, we are now able to reach you. My children, Alec and Gaby were your ring bearer and flower girl at your wedding. We have often thought of you and while we hardly ever visit FL anymore, anytime we have been fortunate enough to go to Calvary, we have looked for you. Our family moved to GA in 1998 and in 2007, we moved to TN where Victor is in partnership in an automobile store (lifetimekia.com). Our family grew again and we are blessed to have Victoria added to our crew. She is six now. Last time we saw you, I believe Giovanni was a little under two years old, Alec was 5, Gaby was 3 and Alyssa was 9. They are 18,14,13,11 & 6 now!!! Time flies. I asked Gaby to send you a recent photo of the kids along with a note. We think what you are doing is wonderful! Alyssa is attending Toccoa Falls College where she is studying mass communications & marketing. Her heart is in the mission field and she is hoping to go on mission next summer. Alec is in the 9th grade and loves football & cars–not to mention girls! Gaby is a little ” rocker”. She plays the guitar and is auditioning for our church Praise band. She also loves horses and she dutifully takes care of her horse, Ginger. Giovanni is exceptional when it comes to academics. He cares very little for sports, preferring to research information and history. He was asked to be on the radio for President’s Day in which he was challenged by listeners for 45 minutes and asked questions regarding all presidents in history and no one was able to
stump him!! What an honor for him! He’s pretty good at bible history too! Victoria is our baby… Oh, I wish you could meet her, and her meet you as well. She is the funniest, sneakiest, sassiest 6 yr old you could ever meet. Please write back and tell me how you and your family are. I will be praying for you and yours.
God Bless,
Tracey Martino
