Short Term Mission Opportunity – Middle East

30 08 2007

There are some ministry opportunities available in the Middle East. We are looking for a few good men that are available for two months in order to spread the gospel in an Islamic country. This ministry is primarily building relationships with Arabs over tea with the hope of seeing them give their lives to Jesus. There are also opportunities to help with church administration and other ministries. The cost is reasonable, the work is spiritual, and the rewards are eternal.

Please contact Pat Sieler for more information.

Peru Earthquake Update from John Bonner

28 08 2007

Dear Friends,

We heard creation groaning last week in the 8.0 earthquake that hit the coast of central Peru. Tragically, hundreds lost their lives, thousands are wounded, and thousands more are homeless. The Lord has presented us with a wonderful opportunity to serve Him at such a time as this.

Nearly each day since the August 15th quake, we have sent busloads of volunteers to help in the work of evangelism and the relief effort. We have been concentrating in two hard hit areas: Cañete, where pastor Jaime Inga oversees a Calvary Chapel outreach, and Pisco, further south. Both regions are spiritually dark areas.

Prayer List from Far Reaching Ministries

24 08 2007

Joy in the Thorn ~ Paul’s thorn was not pleasant to him. He prayed to be rid of it. But when he found it had come to stay, he made friends with it swiftly. It was no longer how to dismiss, but how to entertain. It was clear to him that it was God’s will, and that meant new opportunity, new victory, and new likeness to Christ. What God means is always too good to be lost, and is worth all it costs to learn. ~ Maltbie Davenport Babcock ~ 1902 Read the rest of this entry »

Update from the Potter’s Field Ranch

23 08 2007

Alex, the newest member of Potter's Field Ranch Orphanage in El Salvador

I AM the Good Shepherd The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep John 10.11

Continuing with the “I AM” statements of Jesus, we see another characteristic of His nature in that He is the Good Shepherd.  Note that He is not just a good shepherd, but THE Good Shepherd.  He is the only shepherd and everything that He does is good.  He knows you, your needs, your struggles and your innermost thoughts.  He knows how to guide and direct you, never leading you astray.  He is completely trustworthy.  Consider His goodness in that He is excellent, He is perfect and in Him there is no darkness.

In the following articles, you will see how the Good Shepherd is tending His flock, through Potter’s Field Ranch, El Salvador Orphanage and associate ministries.

Urgent Prayer Request – Peru Earthquake

16 08 2007

Friends and Family,

You may have heard about the major earthquake that hit Peru this evening. We are glad to report all is well. Our family is fine, and as far as we can assertain, our church family is also safe. We are without phone and electricity at home, but there is power and even Internet available in some areas of the city.

Wow! It was a big one: 7.9, and only 25 miles from Lima. The concern now is for the possibility of a tsunami . We are right on the coast, and many here could be affected.

Thank you for praying for us, and pray that the Lord would use us to share with many who have been shaken. We expect a full house at church on Sunday!

You are loved and appreciated!

Sincerely,

John Bonner

Pray through Ramadan

14 08 2007

The Muslim observance of Ramadan is just around the corner.  As many of you know, some of the missionaries we support work directly with Muslims. During the lunar month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world do not eat or drink during daylight hours, and focus on religious observances.  Muslims consider this month the most venerated, blessed and spiritually-beneficial month of the Islamic year.

Many Christians commit to pray for Muslims during the month of Ramadan.  Every year the Frontiers organization issues a prayer guide for Ramadan giving information about different people groups and how you can pray for them. If you would like a free copy of this, you can order one from Frontiers’ website at http://www.frontiers.org/ramadan/ramadan.html.

This year Ramadan falls between Sept. 13 and Oct. 12, so if you order now, you’ll be ready when the time comes.

Creation Fest Update from Phil and Megan Pechonis – UK

14 08 2007

Hi Everyone!

This year’s Creation Fest went incredibly well! God was so faithful with the weather and drying out the field so it wasn’t too muddy. The only bad weather we had all weekend was on Sunday night when the rain forced us to close the main stage and move the acts into one of the cafes. It created a fun environment as everyone squeezed in to hear Universal Royalty and Monovision, between which Phil presented the gospel. Around 125 people received Christ over the course of the whole weekend, including 25 kids in the kids’ tent on Sunday morning. In the kids’ tent we saw 443 kids at various times during the weekend doing sports, games, crafts, and watching the musicians, break-dancer, and puppeteer. The sports area was also very popular as we had a football pitch for a tournament and another field for various other games. A full lineup of bands and speakers kept the two cafes busy all weekend. The skate-park grew again with free skating, demos by a pro-skater, and a skate contest. Volunteers in the ministry tent reported an amazing openness as many people sought prayer and counseling. Overall there were probably about one third more people in attendance from last year.

Uplift and Update from the Rozeks – Serving in the UK

10 08 2007

Hello fellow members of the Household of Faith,

UPLIFT…

We know that IN HIS PRESENCE is the fullness of joy (Ps. 16:11). We also know that the GOSPEL is the message that is the power of God to bring people INTO the presence of God (Rom. 1:16). So it is only natural that when we faithfully share the WONDROUS GOSPEL to a wandering soul that there is the potential, the possibility and the privilege to see someone changed and exchanged as they come out of darkness and into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9-10). This was true when Philip preached the Gospel in Samaria where people already had their spiritual bent and were not enjoying the genuine fellowship with God. After Philip preached, the Scriptures tell us… “And there was great joy in that city” (Acts 8:8).

May this be true of us! May we be in His presence and thus filled with His joy so that when we are in the presence of others we will share the same joy that we are so privileged to experience in Him. Amen!
