Nursing Home Ministry Update

29 04 2009
CRNH Volunteers/Prayer Warriors:

We had our April outreach at Coral Reef Nursing Home last Saturday at 3 pm and I understand from Jorge Lopez that it was wonderful!  Jorge covered for me (since I was out of town) and he played piano for the residents for over an hour. We had quite a few volunteers come out this month,  God bless you all for sharing your time and love in ministering to the elderly residents at Coral Reef Nursing Home! The next outreach will take place on Saturday, May 30!  I believe that Paola Lopez will be lending her singing talents for the residents next month (Paola’s a mezzo-soprano).

Also, on Mother’s Day (May 10) I will be dropping off silk roses (red), chocolates (sugar free) and spiritual greeting cards (bilingual) to the elderly ladies at CRNH.  If any of you would like to join me please e-mail me at phoenixfaith@yahoo.com or sign up at the info desk.

Thank you all for keeping this outreach in your prayers, as it is much appreciated by the elderly residents and the staff at CRNH!  God bless you all!

In Christ,
Minerva

Home Base

20 04 2009

Thank you to everyone who signed up for the mission trips this year. Jesus Christ will be exalted as we serve Him in Miami and throughout the world. There’s still much to do. Just because you can’t go on the mission trip doesn’t mean that you can’t be part of the team. There are many “behind the scenes” activities that go into planning and executing a successful missions trip. If you would like to act as “home base” for one of our teams this year then please email us at missions@calvarykendall.com to find out how you can get involved.

We are just a few days away from Easter. It is the day in which we celebrate the Greatest Single Fact in the History of the Universe and that is that Jesus Christ was Crucified, was Buried, and on the Third Day Rose from the Dead and He is Alive! What an amazing thing for us to Celebrate! And this year we will be having 2 Services at the beautiful CCk West Campus located at 15900 SW 56 Street. Service times will be at 9AM and 11AM. There will be a killer kids program as well. You will not want to miss this! And you won’t want your friends and family to miss it either. Easter is always a great opportunity to invite folks that normally won’t go to church. I pray that God would use you to step out with boldness to call and invite everyone that you can think of to join us for one of the services.  I am looking forward to what the Lord is going to do.

Pastor Pedro Garcia

Nursing Home Outreach Recap

30 03 2009

Hi, Everyone!
We had a blessed afternoon on Saturday at the Coral Reef Nursing Home as we ministered to the elderly residents at the home!  Jorge Lopez played the piano beautifully (with much applause and reaction from the residents, staff and volunteers)…while his wife, Paola, and daughter, Sophia, cheered him on and chatted with the residents.  Fiorella was sharing her love with the residents in the Rec room and she also visited the shut-ins in their rooms.  Kitty and Nancy brought hand lotion and sugar-free treats and massaged the residents hands while applying the fragrant lotion.  The residents loved the attention and the sweet treats, too!  We had a new volunteer, Naomi Rivera, who also attends CCK.  Naomi is blind, but was able to minister to the residents and seeing her really brightened their day – she was an inspiration for them.  Thank you all for volunteering!

Next month, the outreach is on Saturday, April 25th and I will be sending the reminder e-mail the Monday before (as usual).  However, my husband, Roger, will be 51 years old on that day and we will be out of town celebrating his birthday.

Jorge and Paola Lopez will be filling in for me at the April CRNH outreach (and it is VERY much appreciated).  One of them (I believe Paola in April) will be performing their music for the elderly residents at CRNH and I am hoping that we have a nice show of volunteers now that the sign-up sheet and announcements for this outreach will get straighted out by then.

Just a reminder:  I will be visiting the Nursing Home on Easter Sunday between 2-3 pm with Easter treats (sugar-free), Easter greeting cards and tracts.  If you would like to join me in distributing these treats on Easter, you are welcome to do so.  Just e-mail me to let me know…  Thanks to all you dedicated volunteers who are there every month for the CCK Nursing Home outreach!  You are all blessings to the residents of CRNH!  Please keep this outreach in your prayers always!  God bless you all!

In Christ,
Minerva

CCK Nursing Home Outreach

27 03 2009
The last Saturday of every month between 3-5 pm we visit Coral Reef Nursing Home, 9869 SW 152 Street, Miami, FL, and minister to the residents there. We meet in the Nursing Home lobby where we open up with prayer at 3 pm.  We then serve by performing music and/or ministering to the elderly in the Recreation Room or visiting the shut-ins in their rooms (those unable to leave their rooms for various reasons). We also give the residents manicures on special occasions (such as holidays) and distribute goodie bags of sugar-free candies/cookies/tracts on some holidays (Easter, Mother’s & Father’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas). Many of these residents are in need of a simple conversation, a listening ear, a hug, and especially God’s love. For more info or questions email Minerva at phoenixfaith@yahoo.com.

Our special needs service is open every Sunday at the 12:30pm service in the Main Campus. If you’re patient, willing to learn, and feel called to help please email jp@calvarykendall.com or visit www.calvarykendall.com/kids and http://www.cckspecialneedsministry.blogspot.com/ for more info.
